Privacy Policy
Compass is a free retirement planner from RetireNerd.com. It is built so that your plan stays with you. This policy explains what that means in practice.
What Compass stores, and where
- Your plan stays on your device. The numbers you enter (ages, balances, income, spending and the rest) are saved in your own browser’s storage so your plan is there when you come back. They are not sent to RetireNerd or anyone else.
- No account, no name, no email. Compass doesn’t ask for your name, email address, account numbers or Social Security number, and doesn’t need them.
- Files you export (a plan file, a spreadsheet, a printed report) are saved wherever you choose. We never see them.
- Your ZIP code, if you enter one for Medicare prices, is used on your device to pick your state’s averages. It isn’t sent anywhere.
When something leaves your device
- Second-opinion prompts. If you copy a prompt to paste into an AI chat (such as Claude or ChatGPT), you choose what to paste and where. That service’s policy applies.
- Our web host keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) for security and to keep the site running, as nearly every website does.
Compass loads its fonts and code from our own site, not from third-party services.
Cookies and tracking
Compass itself doesn’t use advertising cookies or sell or share personal information.
Deleting your data
Everything Compass saved is in your browser. Use File → Start fresh (or Clear saved data) in Compass, or clear this site’s data in your browser settings, and it’s gone.
Children
Compass is meant for adults planning retirement and isn’t directed to children under 13.
Changes
If Compass starts storing anything new (for example, optional cloud saving to reach your plan from another device), this page will say what, where and why before that feature is turned on.
